SKIPTA Consulting is a leadership and organisational consultancy helping leadership teams see what is really holding their organisation back - and move forward.
We work with leaders when something is not working, performance is not improving as expected or the answer has become difficult to see from inside the organisation.
The name SKIPTA comes from the Old Norse word for change.
But our work is not about change for change’s sake. It begins with understanding what is really happening and creating the conditions for people, teams and organisations to perform.
These four beliefs shape how SKIPTA Consulting thinks about leadership, organisational performance and the way people work together.
People and teams perform at their best when leaders create the right conditions around them.
That means clarity about what matters, strong relationships, trust, shared expectations and the freedom to make good decisions. Better organisational performance rarely comes from simply adding another initiative. It comes from creating an environment in which people can succeed.
Leadership teams can become too close to the day-to-day reality of the organisation to see what is really holding it back.
A fresh perspective, better questions and a willingness to challenge assumptions can reveal something that has previously been missed.
Once leaders see the situation more clearly, they can make better decisions about where to focus.
Leadership is demonstrated through conversations as much as decisions.
The words leaders choose influence trust, relationships and organisational culture. The language of feedback, challenge, intention and shared responsibility shapes how people feel, how they respond and ultimately how the organisation performs.
Organisations perform better when people feel able to speak honestly, challenge ideas, offer a different view and say no when something does not feel right.
That starts with leaders who genuinely listen. When people know that their opinion is valued, they contribute more openly, decisions improve and the organisation is better equipped to move forward.

SKIPTA Consulting was founded by Paul West, who has spent decades leading organisations and working alongside boards, executives and leadership teams across transport, defence, healthcare, pharmaceuticals and energy.
Paul has experienced the pressures, competing priorities and difficult decisions senior leaders face because he has made those decisions himself.
Clients are not working with someone who has only observed complex organisational challenges. They are working with someone who has led through them.
At SKIPTA Consulting, we listen first: understanding the organisation, the people involved and what leaders are trying to achieve before deciding where support will be most useful.
Relationships often continue beyond the original brief because clients value our judgement, perspective and understanding of their organisation.
What begins with one challenge can develop into a long-term relationship as new priorities emerge.
We don’t focus on improving culture simply for the sake of it. What matters is the difference it makes to organisational performance.
When leadership teams understand what is holding the organisation back and create better conditions for success, they are better able to:
Paul remains closely involved in every engagement. SKIPTA also works with trusted specialist associates and delivery partners, bringing in the expertise and capacity the work requires.
The approach remains professional but human: serious about outcomes, with room for humour, creativity and honest conversation.
Think Green Day, not grey suits.
Alongside his work with SKIPTA Consulting, Paul is Global President and Chair of the Board of Directors for the Change Management Institute and a member of the teaching faculty at the NTL Institute.
He is also a recognised voice on leadership and organisational performance, speaking at conferences, contributing to panels, facilitating events and sharing his perspective through business media.
